I must be getting my terms mixed up because all I want to do is take say a 10 minute AVI file, and only use from minute 3 to minute 7....or use from the How to Cut and convert FLV video files?

Step 1: Add video files to the video trim

Cutting a video in Expression Encoder involves splitting the video, and then either trimming or deleting the resulting clips. You can perform cuts either in the Timeline or in the Clips section of the Enhance panel. If you perform your cuts in the Clips section, you will see a listing of the in and out points of each clip that you create.
