I have a problem with register/2, what might be wrong with such kind of code?
Code:
...
receive
{Pid, ok} when is_atom(Name), is_pid(Pid) ->
register(Name, Pid),
{ok, Pid};
{Pid, error} ->
{error, Pid}
end;
...
It fails with
Code:
** exception error: bad argument
in function register/2
called as register('PS8000',<0.58.0>)
in call from test1:start_server/0
in call from test1:test_s/0

Have you checked these reasons:
Documentation says (http://www.erlang.org/doc/man/erlang.html):
