...because I like things the easy way. :0

Having successfully installed Solaris on my iMac,
Code:

SunOS unknown 5.10 Generic_120012-14 i86pc i386 i86pc
I then downloaded the latest Erlang sources and hoped for the best. After adding these to my PATH:
Code:

/usr/sfw/bin for the GNU tools
/usr/ccs/bin for 'ar'

I then entered ./configure and all went well, then the 'gmake' started and appeared to work until the end. I re-tried with these options:
Code:

--disable-smp --disable-megaco-flex-scanner
I tried again but the end result is the same, a blow-chunk situation! Here's the tail of the output as a screen-shot in case you don't believe it is on Solaris on an iMac (what's real?!) but also attached is the full build output.

Does anybody have any clues at all as to what has gone wrong or why and how I should go aout making it work ?

Thanks,
-> Sean Charles

Seems to be choking on hipe... have you tried --disable-hipe ?
I don't know just an educated guess Smile I've had similar problems with hipe but not on solaris though.

Hi Mazen,

Yes I did try --disable-hipe but it still insists on trying to do something with it.

The GOOD NEWS however is that I have now managed to get Emacs and Erlang (R115B I think) up and running and increased my Solaris guru-ship (almost zero) in the process.

I managed to install the Solaris equivalent of 'apt-get', called 'pkg-get' and then I did:
Code:

pkg-get -i emacs erlang erlang_doc

and had a very very looooooong coffee!

Sometime later it had done the business, installed all the dependancies that Emacs needs and now I have a working Erlang development environment under Solaris 10.

Cool.

Next, yaws..... Smile

I love being a turtle!
