If you are given a bunch of .mts (AVCHD files) (loaded onto NTSF/PAL hard drive) to import into FCP on a Mac but can't get Log & Transfer to recognize them. Transcode Panasonic LX7 MTS to FCP 7/X with ProRes codec
Summary: Follow the guide below to know how to Convert LX7 AVCHD to ProRes 422 MOV for Final Cut Pro 7/X on Mountain Lion.
"Hello we captured footage with the Panasonic LX7 camera, transfered the video files onto an external drive. We’re now trying to import those AVCHD files into Final Cut Pro 7 but it seems they are not supported… how do you import them?"
Recently, I have received many customer feedback problems described above. Through Google search, I also found that many people have the same problem – about "how to import LX7 AVCHD files to FCP without quality loss?" So I want to write a solution based on this problem, look forward to helping more people.
As we know, AVCHD format is not well to use on Mac OS or FCP software, for Final Cut editing, the best format is Apple prores codec MOV format, so what we need to do is to convert LX7 AVCHD MTS files to prores codec, and then we can use LX7 recorded video smoothly in FCP 7/X on Mac Mountain without problems.
The following is the detailed steps:
Step 1: Load Panasonic LX7 AVCHD files to converter.
Download, install and run Pavtube AVCHD to FCP Converter for Mac. Connect and stream Panasonic LX7 AVCHD files to Mac for convert AVCHD to ProRes and Edit ProRes in Final Cut Pro.
