I am very much a beginner when it comes to Erlang, and despite my best efforts over several hours I can't seem to get the tutorial application to function correctly.
When I follow the tutorial steps to connect to the server using the interactive runtime, I do get the expected response ("Hello world") back from the server. But, when I try to simply connect using telnet (on win32 and OSX) or putty (on win32) the client connects, but nothing is echoed back to the client.
I upgraded to R14B01 (on Windows XP) to see if there was a bug that had been fixed, and have tried playing around (somewhat blindly) with the socket options, but to no avail.
What am I missing? Thanks. |

After an absolutely ridiculous amount of troubleshooting, I believe that the answer was quite simple.
I changed the socket options to:
"{active, once}, {packet, raw}, {recbuf,1024}]" and this resolved my issue with telnet/putty clients.
This was one of the first things I tried, but it didn't work - probably did something boneheaded like forgetting to compile before testing.... |
