In the next few weeks, you will be noticing differences to trapexit. Some of it is based on the feedback we have received in the past 12 months. Other consists of ideas we have had. The following posts are intended as a forum to discuss the changes we are planing, and a way for us to know what you are looking for in the site:

Unify the look of the pages -- it should feel like one site rather than a wiki, forum and other odd components which were downloaded and installed. The layout should be simple, usable, elegant and nerdy

There should be one login, to all the features in trapexit (wiki, forum, and repository)

Include “Google co-op” Erlang search engine in the overall style of the site possibly as a search box that reappears in a (set) place on each page.

Put in place a new simple menu structure with permanent sub-menus:

    Home
    Erlang/OTP Forums
      - Erlang/OTP Forums
      - Trapexit Forums
      - Mailing Lists

    Erlang/OTP Projects
      - User Contributions
      - Code Repository

    Documentation
      - Tutorials
      - Articles
      - Erlang Cookbook
      - FAQ

    Wiki
    RSS Feeds
      - Blogs
      - Commercial

    Links

What do you think?

The wiki menu could have some quick links to those common wiki pages, like tutorials and so on.

The name of the Wiki entry is a little miss leading maybe, it's likely that instead of the static front page that is now everything is going to be MediaWiki, except for the forum of course, so the documentation links is gonna be links to the wiki (everything is a wiki so) and there we have to the tutorials and so on.

The Wiki link should lead to a page in the wiki about how to add/edit stuff and so on. So maybe "About the Wiki" or something is better.

And by the way, the Tango project has a nice MediaWiki skin (http://tango.freedesktop.org/Frequently_Asked_Questions#Where_can_I_get_the_skin_used_for_this_site.3F) which doesn't have the confusing side menu and is a lot simpler and clearer. Should be easy to customize colours and stuff and integrate with phpBB.

Thanks for the tips.

Yes, I have seen that, and a few others when looking for nice themes for MediaWiki.

Also the Beagle project and a few other have made interesting pages with MediaWiki: http://beagle-project.org/Main_Page

But Tango distribute their skin so maybe we try and see what we can do with that one, if someone have more tips on good themes/skins that is free to download please share with us.
