~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trapexit has been around in its new shape for over a year now. Its visitor rate has in the last months been stable at 400 unique visitors a day. With a user base contributing to hundreds of wiki pages including tutorials, the Erlang cookbook and articles, its contents have quickly grown to become a valuable reference for many Erlang developers. If you have not visited recently drop by and have a look.
In the next two months, the site will receive a number of changes. We have detailed them in various posts on the improvements forum, where you all are welcome to provide feedback. Site-wide improvements will include a uniform layout and single user accounts (as opposed to separate accounts for the wiki and the forums), new menus and a new look and feel. Details and discussions on this are here:
http://forum.trapexit.org/viewtopic.php?p=28517
Front Page Improvements
Trapexit's front page will get a complete overhaul and be filled with dynamic data. The new front page will include news, the latest forum entries, and the latest mailing list entries (from erlang-questions at erlang.org), RSS feeds and Wiki spot lights. Details and discussions on the contents are here:
http://forum.trapexit.org/viewtopic.php?p=28518
Wiki
Parts of the wiki will be restructured, in order to make the information easier to find. Links to the forums will be added, where appropriate, to encourage discussion. Details of the changes we have planned are here:
http://forum.trapexit.org/viewtopic.php?p=28519
Forums
Traffic in the forums has been consistent, but not as intensive as we had hoped. Some of the existing forums will be merged together. The new Erlang/OTP forums are described and discussed here:
http://forum.trapexit.org/viewtopic.php?p=28520
User Contributions
The User Contributions forum has been the most popular forum, allowing people to upload their own code at the click of a mouse. We are looking at expanding this section with a code browser and links to Erlang related projects at google code and source-forge as well as other SVN repositories. Discussions are here:
We at Erlang Training and Consulting are open to suggestions and advice. We look forward to a constructive debate in the forums and are always happy for volunteers to come forward to help us out. Help is not just needed with the day to day management of the site (which we do in our spare time), but by adding tutorials, links, articles, uploading your code or just answering questions other Erlang developers have raised in the forums.
See you all on trapexit!
Francesco, Ulf, Karl and the rest of the gang in London
